My Favorite Lifestyle Medicine Books
How Not to Die:
Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease Hardcover – by Michael Greger
(This was the first book I read about the health benefits of a whole-food, plant-based diet. It motivated me to make major lifestyle changes and to learn more about lifestyle medicine to help me take better care of my patients.)
How Not to Diet:
The Groundbreaking Science of Healthy, Permanent Weight Loss by Michael Greger
Follow up to How Not to Die. Very thorough and evidenced based. Lots of new tips and recommendations to take away from this book.
Super Immunity:
A Breakthrough Program to Boost the Body's Defenses and Stay Healthy All Year Round by Joel Fuhrman
The first book I read from Dr. Fuhrman where I learned about his “Nutritarian Diet”. I found this extremely motivational to chose foods based on their nutrient density and to eat more foods that are health promoting. This book came out long before Covid but was extremely pertinent as most of us looked to do whatever we could to boost our immune system using evidenced based recommendations.
Eat to Live:
The Amazing Nutrient-Rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss by Joel Fuhrman
Eat for Life:

The Longevity Diet:
How Simple Lifestyle Changes Can Reverse Most Chronic Diseases by Dean & Anne Ornish
